Lors du chapitre bonus "Garden of Light" 「光の庭」 de BANANA FISH, qui se déroule 7 ans après la fin du manga, nous retrouvons les personnages principaux. Cependant, un changement dans la traduction bouleverse la narration et change toute sa profondeur.

In the extra chapter "Garden of Light" 「光の庭」of BANANA FISH that takes place 7 years after the end of the manga, we see the main characters again. However, a change in the translation turns the narration and its depth upside down.

Dans la version japonaise, Eiji ne prononce pas une seule fois "Ash", il le mentionne par le pronom 「彼」("lui" /"il"). Il ne prononce le véritable nom complet d'Ash qu'à Akira, à la toute fin du chapitre.

In the Japanese version, Eiji never spells Ash's name. He uses the pronoun「彼」("Him"/"He"). He only says his real full name  to Akira. at the very end  of the chapter.

Hors, dans la version anglaise, Eiji prononce son nom régulièrement. Je trouve que c'est un choix de traduction quelque peu discutable, car cela retire une certaine profondeur évocatrice de l'état d'esprit du personnage d'Eiji, fortement affecté par les événements qu'il a connu 7 ans auparavant.

However, in the English version, Eiji spells his name quite often. I think it's a questionable translation choice, because it takes away a depth in the dialogue that point out Eiji"s state of mind, deeply and irreversibly affected by the events that occurred 7 years ago.
